Inert Gas Generator

The inert gas generator systems apply when no existing supplies of flue gas is available. The system comprises a combined burner part and scrubber part, both seawater cooled.

Marine diesel oil or heavy fuel is burnt to produce inert gas with oxygen content of 2 – 4%. The gas then enters the scrubber part, where it is cooled and cleaned by sprayed seawater before being distributed to the deck area.

Generator capacities between 500 – 17500 m3/h are available with automatic turndown ratios 4:1.

Horizontal Combustion ChamberOur inert gas generators are have a horizontal combustion chamber design which prevents fuel oil spill through drain line in case of misfire (fuel deposits are captured inside combustion chamber and completely burnt on next firing.)

Combustion chamber and cooling jacket have extensive use of high grade stainless steel ASTM N08904 for maximum corrosion resistance and long life time.

Full PLC control

Maritime Protection generators are fully PLC controlled to provide the following advantages:

  • Very high degree of operation stability

  • Close monitoring and control of combustion process to enable high inert gas quality with low soot content

  • Virtually absence of flame failure

  • Full access for remote monitoring/control of IGG

Full automatic turn down (fuel saver)

Maritime Protection generators are equipped with fully automatic turn down. This forces the generator only to burn exactly the needed amount of fuel, to produce the actual inert gas consumtion to the tanks. The result is no excessive fuel consumption for blow out of inert gas to the atmosphere, and large savings on fuel budget.
